My thoughts on Shadows of the Damned

Right, I rented this out on Saturday & I've been addicted to it ever since. Just instantly fell in love with the game. I've heard comparisons from some people with this & Resident Evil 4. Now I've not played that before but if you liked that, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this just as much. The gameplay is a lot of fun, easy to pickup and learn right from the off. The game is gory in places; lots of blood spurting out of the demons and the shooting mechanics are solid. The humour is hilarious (lots of dick jokes) but they're used effectively and don't seem out of place. The boss fights are pretty epic, except for one which is probably the worst boss fight I've experienced in a game but that's the only real gripe in terms of the game's design. Great soundtrack too.

I'm about 7 hours into the game & I've got just under 1 chapter left to do, so length wise it's about 8 hours. For platinum I'd say around 24 hours as you've got to play it 3 times as the difficulty trophies don't stack unfortunately. There's no option for a new game+ either which is a shame.

No-one will probably give a damn about what I've just wrote lolol but I needed somewhere to write down my thoughts instead of putting them on Twitter in short bursts. Sad to see the game at only number 31 in the charts too but this is a refreshing new IP in the game industry, even if there's a huge probability that a sequel won't be made. Guess this'll be one of those under-appreciated gems but one that I'll definitely end up buying.


So if you're in need of something fresh, new & creative to play. Give this game a shot. You won't regret it.
